Symmetry Building Access Notes
Purpose
Provide detailed instructions for managing building access and system maintenance using the Symmetry Building Access system.
Scope
This guide covers manual activation of doors, checking for offline controllers, resetting Lantronix devices, syncing card data, managing facility codes, and other essential maintenance tasks within the Symmetry Building Access system.
Responsibilities
- Security Personnel: Execute the instructions for activating doors and managing facility codes.
- IT Support: Perform system maintenance tasks, reset devices, and ensure system synchronization.
How to Manually Activate Doors:
Home > Command Center > Expand Readers> Select Reader that you want > Select Unlock > Send
How to Check for Offline Controllers:
- Maintenance > Node Status > Find > All > After they all load look for ones that say “Timed Out”
- You can try to bring them back online by going to:
- Install > Chains > LAN > Find > Double Click the one that is not working > Uncheck Enabled > Ok > Reopen it and check Enabled > Ok
Lantronix Device Reset Procedure:
Unplug power and wait 5 seconds. After replugging you should see the network lights blinking red and green. Sometime it will stay just red and you need to reboot it a couple times to get it working.
How to Sync Card Data to Controller
- Maintenance > Node > Select Chain Name > Select Node > Click Card and System Data > Click Ok
Facility Codes:
New MVTA Printable Cards with 4 digits are Facility Code 77
Schmitty Cards with 3 digits are Facility Code 60
How to Find Facility Code of Card
- Scan Card at Reader > Reports > System > Run > Check for following:

- The # between “Comp 1 Card” and “Cust” is the Facility Code. Its 60 in the example above.
How to Setup New Facility Code
- Setup > Facility/Customer Code > New
How to Sync Time on Controllers
- Maintenance > System Time > Check “Send Time to Controllers” and “Sync Scheduled Commands Now” > Click Ok
- Then you can to go Home > Activity and see the controllers checking in and ensure that the time is correct.
- Unfortunately, there is no way to make this happen on a schedule.
How To Change IP Address of Node
- Install > Chains > LAN > Find > Click on Chain > Open > Change IP > Save
How to Flatten (wipe and refresh) the Panel:
Press and hold the button on the panel for 30 seconds. You will hear the doors click. If connected to the server, the system and card data will automatically download and should be available in 3-5 minutes.
The schedule information will synchronize but it will not run schedules that already happened earlier in the day. Do the How to Sync Time on Controllers process to resync everything.
How to return doors to schedule after outage
Operation>Scheduled>Find
Double click door to update
Select Options> Check the box Sync. Command on Close> Click OK
