How to Troubleshoot Card Reader Issues Possible Issues: Card reader is damaged Check for physical damage. If there is damage, this will require us to send in the device to Clover and for them to ship us a replacement. Card reader is dirty Use the Card Reader Cleaning Card to clean out the contacts inside of the card reader. Take a piece of receipt paper, fold it, and run it through the card reader to try and clean the contacts inside the reader. Card reader is glitching Restart the device - Do this by holding the power button on the side and selecting 'Restart'
