How to Restrict Editing for Word+PowerPoint
Purpose
This article provides instructions on how to set up and customize Slide Masters in PowerPoint and implement Restricted Editing in Microsoft Word.
Scope
The guide is applicable for users looking to streamline the design of PowerPoint presentations using the Slide Master feature, and those who need to restrict editing in specific sections of a Word document.
Responsibilities
Users are responsible for configuring their PowerPoint templates and Word documents following the provided steps, ensuring that the formatting and editing restrictions are properly set according to their project needs.
PowerPoint - Slide Master
Requires some extra work to get the desired template.
1. Go to View > Slide Master

It behaves just like creating a regular PowerPoint, but here you can control the layout and look of the slides based on their name. For example, 'Title and Description' slide could have one image on it that would not be able to be moved outside of the Slide Master interface.

Word - Restricted Editing
Requires some setup, but it's a simple once it is set up.
1. Set up the desired Header and Footer
2. Put cursor on the top of the Body section of the page

3. Go to Layout > Breaks > Select Continuous

4. Go to Review > Restricted Editing

5. Set up Restricted Editing
a. Make sure 'Allow only this page of editing' is checked with the 'No Changes' option selected
b. Highlight the body portion of the document
c. Select 'Everyone' in the Exceptions portion
d. Click 'Yes, Start Enforcement'

6. Set a password if desired, if not just select OK

Now the areas of the document other than the Body cannot be edited.
