How to Change Paper Roll for the Planning HP Designjet T520 Printer
Purpose: Explaining how to install new paper and work with any errors that the paper installation is giving.
Scope: This pertains to the Planning HP Designjet Printer, and may apply to any other plotter printers.
Responsibility: It is the responsibility of the user actively using the printer to order and replace the paper, with IT being responsible for assisting when needed.
1. Take the current roll out of the printer by lifting the roll of paper.
2. Take off the blue cap on the printer roll and slide out old paper roll.
3. Put new paper roll on keeping in mind that the blue cap goes on the left side of the printer, and the paper needs to be orientated to go over the top of the roll.

4. Place roll of paper back on printer with the blue cap on the left side.
4. Select 'Roll' on the printer screen and then 'Load Paper'

5. Slide the ends of the paper down into the printer until you hear the printer beep.
6. The printer will now automatically adjust the paper.
7. Once it's finished its adjustments, you are now able to print from the printer
Errors
Paper is too skewed -
Issue: The paper is too loose on the roll
Fix: Take roll out of printer and tighten the paper around the roll and then put roll back.
Paper is unrecognized
Issue: Paper isn't reaching the printer head.
Fix: Paper needs to be pushed further into the printer when loading the roll.
Paper is getting jammed
Issue: Paper roll is too big width size so it's having trouble pulling the paper
Fix: Remove paper until it can roll without catching the overhead lid and try again.
